Engaging workers through fitness : "Well Track by Sodexo"

Sodexo established a partnership with the University of Aberdeen in 2010 and launched Well Track, a motivational program that rewards efforts to stay healthy.

In 2008, Sodexo teamed up with the University of Aberdeen to carry out a study with three main aims:

• Define the concepts of wellness and wellbeing;
• Examine how wellness and wellbeing are being developed within organizations and  how they impact employee and organizational performance;
• Determine what impact employee wellness and well-being has on the performance of remote sites’ workers, specifically in regard to reducing accidents and injuries.

Based on the results of this study, Sodexo established a partnership with the University of Aberdeen in 2010 and launched Well Track, a motivational program that rewards efforts to stay healthy.

Well Track helps address a strategic concern for clients:  attract and retain talent by improving their staffs’ quality of life in  extreme environments. Participants are  teamed up with a Sodexo coach who designs personal fitness programs that include physical exercise, balanced diets and health checks - all of which can also be monitored when workers are at home.
 
Given that motivation is essential for individual progress, participants register their progress via an online application where they are rewarded with points to spend on gifts and services (a feature of Sodexo’s Benefits and Rewards Services activity). Initial results are convincing - for one satisfied client, over 60% of employees participate in the program. The satisfaction rate among these employees has increased markedly: from 70% to 95% for physical and material well-being, from 66% to 90% for health, and from 78% to 90% for "active" leisure pursuits.
